How to make a contact QR code
- Add your contact details. Enter your name or organization, then choose which phone, email, and website details to share.
- Customize and generate. Keep a dark code on a light background. An optional logo can help people recognize your card.
- Scan and check every field. Test the contact preview on a phone before saving it. Check names, international dialing prefixes, and website addresses.
- Download your code. Use PNG for digital sharing or SVG for a scalable print layout.
Try a sample business contact
Use Alex Rivera, organization Example Studio, job title Designer, and email alex@example.com. These are fictional details for testing; replace them before sharing your card.
Make it readable on a business card
More contact information makes a denser code. Keep only useful details, preserve the white border, and leave enough space in your design. Start around 3 cm wide for close-up scanning and increase the size if the actual printed card is hard to scan.
Add a “Scan to save my contact” label. Print your name and a key contact method in text as well, so people can still reach you if their scanner cannot import vCards.
vCard QR generator questions
What is a vCard QR code?
It stores contact information in the QR image using vCard 3.0. Compatible scanners can show a contact preview and offer to save it. It is a contact card, not a link to a hosted profile.
Which contact details can I include?
Add a first or last name, organization, job title, phone number, email, and website. A name or organization is required; other fields are optional. Use an international dialing prefix for a phone number shared across countries.
Does scanning automatically save the contact?
No. On a compatible device, the person scanning reviews the contact and chooses whether to save it. Camera and contact-import support vary, so test on the phones your audience uses. Some devices need a scanner app that supports vCard.
Can I update the contact after printing?
Not in this static code. Its contact details are fixed when generated. If your phone number, email, or other information changes, create a new code and replace old copies. For a page you can update yourself, use a website QR code linking to your own contact page instead.
Are my contact details private?
Generation happens in your browser without uploading the contact details. However, anyone with the QR image can read and copy the details inside it. Only include information you are comfortable sharing publicly.
Does the code work offline or expire?
The contact data is inside the image, so a compatible scanner can read it without an internet connection. Opening an included website needs internet access. The downloaded static code has no expiry and does not rely on this website.
