How to make a WiFi QR code

  1. Enter your network details. Copy the network name and password exactly from your router settings. Select the matching security option and mark hidden networks if needed.
  2. Generate and test. Choose your colors and optional logo, then generate the code. Scan it with a phone that is not already connected to confirm it joins the right network.
  3. Download and share. Choose PNG for everyday sharing or SVG for scalable printing. Add a “Scan to join WiFi” label and place the code where guests can see it.

For a practice code, use network name Café Guest, security WPA/WPA2 Personal, and password CoffeeGuests2026!. These are fictional details; replace them with your actual guest-network settings before printing.

Make your printed code easy to scan

Keep a dark code on a light background and leave the blank border intact. Start with a code around 3 cm wide for close-up scanning, then test the actual print at the distance guests will use it. Larger or more detailed codes may need more space. Avoid glare, folds, and stretching the image.

A small card works well in a guest room; a counter sign suits a café. Keep a text copy of the network name available for guests whose devices cannot scan WiFi codes.

WiFi QR code questions

Does a WiFi QR code expire?

The downloaded code has no expiry date and does not rely on this website. It contains fixed network details. If you change the network name, password, or security setting, generate and print a new code.

Is my WiFi password uploaded or hidden inside the code?

Your network details are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to generate the QR code. The downloaded code does contain the password in a readable format. Share it only with people who should have access, and use a separate guest network when possible.

How do guests scan it on iPhone or Android?

On a compatible phone, open the camera, point it at the code, and tap the network prompt. Some Android devices offer a QR scanner in WiFi settings instead. Support varies by device, camera app, and network security mode, so test with the phones your guests use.

Which security settings are supported?

Choose WPA/WPA2 Personal for a supported password-protected network, WEP for an existing legacy network, or No password for an open network. This form does not configure enterprise networks with usernames or certificates. WPA3-only networks may need the router or phone’s built-in sharing feature.

Can I share a hidden or open network?

For a hidden network, enter its exact name and select Hidden network. For an open network, choose No password; any previously typed password will be excluded from the generated code. The network must still be in range, and a captive portal may require a separate sign-in.

Why does the code scan but not connect?

Check the network name, capitalization, spaces, password, and security setting against your router. Make sure the phone is in range and supports the network. A successful scan reads the credentials; it cannot verify that the router will accept them.
